USAFA History fun fact by Jack for Jack:
Here's the Cleo & Zelda Jack story: In 1942 they were ranchers near Socorro New Mexico. One day, some folks came and said "you got to leave, here's some money!" Turns out these were the atomic bomb folks. They needed land for testing. So Cleo & Zelda bought land and a ranch north of Colorado Springs. They ranched from 1942 to 1954. Then, in 1954 some folks stopped by and said "we need this land for an Air Force Academy," and paid them some money! Consolation prize was they named the valley after Cleo & Zelda Jack. They concluded it was time to end their ranching efforts and moved to Colorado Springs. So now you know the Jack story.
